PETERSBURG -- Police are continuing to investigate the shooting death of a 21-year-old man who was killed Thursday in the city's second homicide of the year. "We are making some progress," said police Sgt. Mike Puetz, head of the city's homicide squad. Deon L. Clinton was shot in the upper torso about 3:15 p.m. Thursday in the 2000 block of 30th Street S. He ran down the street and collapsed in an alley. He died at Bayfront Medical Center. Clinton, who lived on Burlington Avenue, worked temporary construction jobs and constantly rode his bicycle, his family said. "He was never the type to start trouble," said his sister, Kim Clinton. "He was a real good guy, a real quiet guy. He joked around and made people laugh and always thought about other people's feelings." Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call police Detective Glen Henry at 551-3058. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
