New voting machines available for tryoutBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published January 26, 2002 Voters can try out Pinellas County's new touch screen voting machines at several locations in the county during the next few months. Clearwater voters will use the machines in their city election March 12. All county residents will use them in the September primary. Deborah Clark, elections supervisor, has announced that the machines will be on display at several events open to the public. Voters also can try out the machines from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at the Elections Service Center, 14255 49th St. N, Suite 202, Clearwater. Elections staffers are taking machines to events not open to the general public, such as school classes and private group meetings. More events will be announced in the future. Anyone who wants to host a demonstration should contact Virginia Stewart or Julie Kelsey at 464-6110.
