Miami Vice TV reboot coming from Vin Diesel, NBC

Cue up the Phil Collins tunes, shine up the sports car and get those pastels back into your wardrobe. It seems that Miami Vice could be returning to network TV.

The Hollywood Reporter says NBC is teaming with actor Vin Diesel to reboot the series, which ran from 1984 to 1990 on the peacock network. The original show starred Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas as undercover detectives in the Miami-Dade police department. The show was beloved for its use of modern MTV-friendly music in each episode and its setting in Art Deco Miami.

Diesel wouldn’t necessarily star in the show, rather his production company - One Race Television - would be the producer. THR reports that Chris Morgan will co-exec produce the series, thus reuniting the pair who made the Fast & Furious flicks together.

If you’re thinking you’ve heard this all before, perhaps you’re confusing the news with the 2006 feature film of the same name. In any case, look for Miami Vice to hit the streets ago for the 2018-19 season.
