This video is how '80s fans should always remember Tom Petty

Decades later, the MTV video for You Got Lucky still blows me away. A single from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' Long After Dark album, the tune topped out at No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 back in 1982. But the video - THE VIDEO - is easily in any top 10 list of the best videos of the decade.

Petty, who died Monday at age 66, felt a personal connection to the video. He and his band wrote the story for the video, which borrowed its look heavily from several pop culture milestones. First, the overall look from The Road Warrior. Second, the hovercar from Logan's Run. And even TV clips playing on the viceo monitors straight from Battlestar Galactica

I still get weepy watching Mike Campbell walk away with his newly discovered guitar as the song wraps up. Then again we're all a little weepy these days.

You put a hand on my cheek
And then you turn your eyes away
If you don't feel complete
If I don't take you all of the way
Then go, yeah, go,
But remember
Good love is hard to find...
