Realtors endorse Rick Baker for St. Pete Mayor
The Pinellas Realtor organization endorsed Rick Baker for mayor Wednesday, saying the former mayor has a track record of good governing in an "inclusive and non-partisan manner."
Baker, who served as mayor between 2001 and 2010, welcomed the endorsement.
"I look forward to continuing to work together to make St. Petersburg a premier destination with a vibrant downtown and strong quality of life in each and every neighborhood of our city," said Baker in a news release touting the backing of the powerful lobby group, which represents 8,000 members of which 2,500 live in St. Petersburg.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – August 9, 2017 – The Pinellas Realtor Organization today announced their endorsement of Rick Baker for Mayor of St. Petersburg.

Leading in an inclusive and non-partisan manner, Baker has a proven record of fixing our aging sewer system, fostering local schools and encouraging economic development,” said Tom Shelly, 2017 Chairman of the Pinellas Realtor Organization. “Mayor Baker is an innovator who also added many parks, playgrounds, and bike trails to St. Petersburg when he was Mayor. These issues are key to making St. Petersburg a destination where people want to live, work and play.”

With over 8,000 members, over 2,500 of which live in St. Petersburg, the Pinellas Realtor Organization is one of the Tampa Bay region’s largest and most politically active professional trade associations. It was established in 2002 with the merger of the St. Petersburg Suncoast and the Greater Clearwater Association of Realtors.
