USF men to play free exhibition Nov. 3
USF announced its men's basketball team will play a free home exhibition game against Division II Flagler on Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. in the Sun Dome.
Parking also is free.
The Bulls, whose roster features nine new players (eight of whom are eligible this season), were picked to finish last in the American Athletic Conference's preseason coaches poll. No Bulls player made the league's preseason all-conference first or second team.
"It was more of like a motivating thing because we know the guys we got, the things we do every day in practice, how good we can be," said PG Stephan Jiggetts, a graduate transfer from Fairleigh Dickinson.
"And just seeing that just made us more hungry, knowing what we've got to do when we step on the court."
One player to keep a close eye on in the exhibition is 6-foot-10 F Isaiah Manderson, who totaled four points in five games last season, but has had an excellent preseason according to Coach Brian Gregory.
"He's been terrific since Day 1 that we took over the job," Gregory said before Tuesday's practice.
"He's kind of refocused, had a tough year last year playing in only, I think, five games. Sometimes when you're put in a situation that a change happens, you see it as a great opportunity, and he's done that. He's gotten in much better shape, much better condition, he's gotten stronger."
The Bulls open the regular season at home Nov. 10 against FAU.
