Fairy Tales and Folklore: Legends Chapter 2 Art Show and Market
Legends, folklore and myth are the stuff great art is often based on. The folks at Black Amethyst Tattoo Gallery know that, which is why they are presenting a series of fantasy-themed art shows throughout the summer. This month’s event happens Friday at Green Bench Brewing Co. They have teamed up with the St. Pete Indie Market, which will present a Gypsy Market, with loads of handmade goods from local artisans and makers. The art show looks really cool, featuring imaginative artwork by area talent. Florida Folk Scene provides the tunes with a live set. The next two events are scheduled for Aug. 25 and Sept. 29. Friday’s event happens from 7-11 p.m. at 1133 Baum Ave. N, St. Petersburg. …

What you need to know about eyelash extensions: how they work, what they cost

Natali Cespedes knew the next big thing was lash extensions.

After applying eyelash extensions on clients for eight years out in California, she wanted to open her own business somewhere where trend hadn't quite taken off, yet.

"I've always wanted to move here," said Cespedes. She opened Lash Addict Studio in January 2016 and her business grew so fast she had to move to a bigger place almost immediately. In the last year and a half, she has brought on more lash technicians, who are "always booked and busy."

Women have wanted full lashes since the dawn of time. Mascara and falsies have been the go-to quick fix. Now you can walk into a lash studio and leave with lusciously long lashes that last for a few weeks at a time. Lash extensions look a little more natural, because a stylist glues individual synthetic lashes onto your real ones, and the whole process can take up to two hours. But it'll certainly make getting ready each morning that much easier.

Never Too Many: Market Round Up
It’s interesting to watch the trends in retail change, and there’s no doubt indie markets are having a moment. Whether tried and true or all brand new, these markets each have something different to offer.

Shop under the shady trees at Williams Park in St. Petersburg on Saturday for the Saturday Morning Market, in its summer location. You’ll see the same quality of fresh produce, food, vendors and entertainment that you’ve come to expect at Al Lang Stadium, only with respite from the blazing sun. 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. at Fourth Street and First Avenue N.

Clearwater Beach is getting in on the market action with the Art Bazaar and Market, pictured, on Saturday. This market boasts art, a farmers market and vendors just for kids. But the main event is the Bazaar Art Throwdown, a competition between three area artists for cash prizes. 3 p.m. McKay Park, across from co-host Beach Fire Beach Bar and Grill, 608 Mandalay Ave. …
