MUCHAS MARKETS: INDIE MARKET ROUNDUP
Ever doubt St. Petersburg is a hub for indie markets?
There are three this weekend alone.
The Film and Funky Flea kicks the weekend off on Friday from 7 to 11 p.m. at Calusa Commons, at First Avenue S and 22nd Street. Hosted by Cinema Squatch, this market features a screening of the B movie Jesse James Meets Frankenstein’s Daughter. Vendors include Bluebird Books, Anchor Skate Supply, hats shown left, and Refashioned Apparel and Home Decor. Black Crow Coffee Roasting will be slinging the beverages, and Urban Brew and BBQ provides the eats.

The O.G. of local indie markets, St. Pete Indie Market, happens Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Green Bench Brewing (1133 Baum Ave. N) with its trademark eclectic selection of makers and artists, including plush monsters by Poopy Doops and cross-stitch creations by the Indigo Owl. There will be food trucks and, of course, beer from Green Bench.

Just down the street on Saturday is the Grand Central Market, held at Punky’s Bar and Grill (3063 Central Ave.) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This market features art, antiques and collectibles.

CAN’T RUN? SHOP! SIP AND STROLL FOR A CURE
The University of Tampa is doing its part to help raise money for a cancer cure by holding a Relay for Life on Saturday at Pepin Stadium. Hyde Park Village is helping out, too, by holding a Sip and Stroll today from 4 to 8 p.m. Participating retailers, including Francesca’s, Vineyard Vines and Kendra Scott, offer champagne and pastries while you shop, and will donate a portion of their sales to Relay for Life.
While you’re at Hyde Park Village, be sure to check out two new murals by local artists Bask (pictured) and Chad Mize. The shopping center partnered with Tampa art gallery CASS Contemporary to curate the murals and bring art not only to shoppers, but also to the residents who live near the center. hydeparkvillage.com.

SO SUCCULENT: KESSLER’S CACTI AND THINGS PLANT SALE
I’m fortunate to have a giant cactus that blooms pretty flowers at night, but sadly, I don’t have any succulents. Well, I’m taking charge of my life with the Kessler’s Cacti and Things Plant Sale at Bearss Groves in Tampa. Kessler’s Cacti and Things has hundreds of cacti and succulents, including rare collector specimens. They’ll also have desert roses, herbs, orchids and other plants. You can “Ask a Botanist” your questions and find soil, pots, fertilizer and decorative gravel under a big tent 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday-Sunday at 14316 Lake Magdalene Blvd. (813) 751-9409. bearssgroves.com.
