'Ear witnesses’: Johnny Depp was nowhere near Amber Heard during dispute

The Johnny Depp-Amber Heard divorce is getting messier every day.

The latest: Two security guards were in the home at the time of the argument last week, TMZ reports, and they say Depp was about 20 feet away from Heard when she screamed, “Stop hitting me!”

The guards, Jerry Judge and Sean Bett, reportedly were standing in a hallway near the couple, but out of sight to give them privacy during the fight. When Heard screamed, the guards said they entered the living area “within a second” to find Heard on the living room couch and Depp 6 yards away in the kitchen.

The guards are expected to testify in the restraining order trial this month.

A source told the gossip site that Depp claims he and Heard knew the guards were in the hall, and Heard screamed to try to set him up.

The guards added that Heard was the aggressor throughout their 15-month marriage, screaming, throwing bottles and charging at Depp, to the point where they had to pull her off of him. They also backed up the cops’ observation that nothing looked fishy when they showed up at the apartment — no broken glass, no bruises from an allegedly hurled iPhone. Nothing.

Now, after initially declining, Heard has filed an official statement with the LAPD, submitting photos as evidence. According to Page Six, her legal team — Samantha F. Spector and Joseph P. Koenig — said Depp’s camp “forced” her to give a statement after “vicious false and malicious allegations” were spread to make her look like the bad guy.

“As the result of Amber’s decision to decline giving an initial statement to the LAPD, her silence has been used against her by Johnny’s team,” her lawyers said in a statement. “Amber did not provide a statement to the LAPD in an attempt to protect her privacy and Johnny’s career.

“Johnny’s team has forced Amber to give a statement to the LAPD to set the record straight as to the true facts, as she cannot continue to leave herself open to the vicious false and malicious allegations that have infected the media. Amber has suffered through years of physical and psychological abuse at the hands of Johnny.

“In domestic violence cases, it is not unusual for the perpetrator’s playbook to include miscasting the victim as the villain. In reality, Amber acted no differently than many victims of domestic violence, who think first of the harm that might come to the abuser, rather than the abuse they have already suffered. Amber can no longer endure the relentless attacks and outright lies launched against her character in the Court of Public Opinion since the tragic events of May 21st.”

They added that Heard tried to “take the high road” and hoped to keep the matter private but had to go public to protect her reputation after Depp and his people “began viciously attacking Amber’s character” in the press.

The legal team said Heard filed her divorce papers at the end of the day Monday, May 23, and did not have Depp served at the Alice Through the Looking Glass premiere, which is one rumor we hadn’t even heard about yet.

“Amber is a brave and financially independent woman who is showing the courage of her convictions by doing the right thing against Johnny’s relentless army of lawyers and surrogates,” they added.

No word yet from Depp, but his friends and family are defending him all over the Interwebs.
