Weekends are great for unwinding, and maybe even unplugging for a little while. Here's what trended that you might have missed if you weren't on social media the last couple days.

April the Giraffe finally gives birth to baby boy

April - arguably now the most famous giraffe in the world - finally gave birth on Saturday after millions waited on edge for months to watch the birth live.

The broadcast has been live since February when April's caretakers at Animal Adventure Park in Binghamton, N.Y., thought she was close to going into labor. Well, if you think "close" is over two months later, then sure.

Hundreds of thousands of people have popped in and out of the 24-hour livestream during that time, just waiting ... and waiting and waiting.

And when her calf was finally born over the weekend, more than a million viewers were tuned in to watch.

Now, people are paying $1 to cast a vote to help name the calf.

"Survivor" outer Jeff Varner gets fired from real estate job after backlash

Jeff Varner, the "Survivor" contestant who got voted off the show after outing fellow competitor Zeke Smith as transgender got booted again - this time from his job.

After receiving intense public backlash for the incident on the show, Varner was fired from his real estate position after just 17 days on the job.

Varner told Entertainment Tonight that he was fired from his North Carolina real estate job in an "ugly, knee-jerk reaction kind of way."

Varner said he plans to take his clients and talents to a new firm soon.
