Jessica Biel stars in The Sinner, premiering Wednesday on USA.

By now you probably know MTV shot a reality series on the No. 1 beach in America. Siesta Key, debuting at 10 tonight, follows a group of young adults as they navigate life in their early 20s over a summer in sunny Florida.

The Times previously reported that the mastermind behind this new show is Dr. Gary Kompothecras of 1-800-Ask-Gary. His son, Alex, is the star of the show, and much of the action in the series' first episode happens inside and out of Kompothecras' mansion on the beach. Kompothecras even makes a few cameos.

Game of Thrones: How the queens got justice and the meeting two decades in the making

Ser Davos and Jon Snow arrive on Dragonstone in Game of Thrones Season 7 episode 3, The Queen's Justice.

HBO

Ser Davos and Jon Snow arrive on Dragonstone in Game of Thrones Season 7 episode 3, The Queen's Justice.

Some Game of Thrones fans have been waiting for this meeting of Ice and Fire since the first book published in 1996.

Jon Snow, the King of the North, and Daenerys Targaryen, rightful heir to the Iron Throne, finally met on last night's episode. Important not only because they're two of the biggest power players in the kingdom, but also because they're secretly related.

As it was finally confirmed last season, Jon is actually also a Targaryen, namely the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. It makes Jon Dany's nephew, and if we're following traditional lines of succession, the actual heir to the throne.

Season 6 finale: Breaking down Jon Snow's true parentage

So, a fun reunion, right?

Not so much.

Oh, and Jon also got his first glimpse of one of Dany's dragons. It's safe to say by the look on his face that he probably peed his pants a little.

LAST WEEK: Five important meetings on Game of Thrones 'Stormborn'

Fans wanted a joyous meeting, but Game of Thrones is anything but full of joy.

When Jon and Ser Davos walk into the throne room on Dragonstone, Missandei begins to list off Daenerys' many MANY titles. As the late King Robert Baratheon would say, "titles titles titles." …

Matthew, from left, Rob, and John Owen Lowe explore supernatural legends in A&E's new reality show "The Lowe Files."

It seems like nothing is off limits on TV these days. Next week, three new shows air that I can't believe are really happening. They're all weird in their own ways, and I'm delighted. But let's be honest, at the point I'd probably watch a TV show about people coming up with TV shows. America has spoken, and we'll watch just about anything to distract us from our boring lives. …

Watch: Sarasota vlogger goes on viral rant against MTV's 'Siesta Key'

Vlogger Louie Carey posted his reaction to MTV's "Siesta Key" in a viral video.

Vlogger Louie Carey posted his reaction to MTV's "Siesta Key" in a viral video.

Looking forward to MTV’s Siesta Key? Well, this Florida native definitely is not.

Vlogger Louie Carey posted his reaction to the two-minute trailer and to the show in general.

It took all of five seconds for Carey to pause and start ranting in a video he posted on Facebook. He smashes the spacebar with an annoyed, you-don’t-know-what-you’re-talking-about fury and points at the camera.

“First thing that’s wrong. Not 73 degrees year round. … Christmas day was 85 degrees last year,” he exclaims.

In his nine-minute video, he only agreed with one statement made by one of the dudes featured on the show: “Siesta Key … it’s the No. 1 beach in the nation."

“That is true, No. 1 beach in the nation,” Carey said.

The rest of the video is fraught with heavy sighs, lots of pointing and a heavy dose of disappointment.

Carey ends his video with a long rant about how this show was encouraged by Dr. Gary Kompothecras of 1-800-ASK-GARY when he invited producers down to Siesta Key. Kompothecras then funded filming of the pilot.

RELATED: What MTV's 'Siesta Key' has to do with 1-800-Ask-Gary

The most concerning part for Carey was his fear of what Siesta Key may become. …

The Onion takes aim at Rays, and 10 other times they made fun of Tampa Bay

The Onion posted this story making fun of the Tampa Bay Rays stingray tank.

The Onion

The Onion posted this story making fun of the Tampa Bay Rays stingray tank.

Satirical news site and sarcastically self-proclaimed "America's finest news source" The Onion made the Tampa Bay Rays the butt of the joke this week by posting an article titled "Area Stingray Dreaming Of Making It To Tropicana Field Touch Tank."

If you're not familiar with The Onion, which was fake news back when "fake news" was fun and not bad, the fact that they quote the stingray as saying "It'd be such a thrill to finally rub my flaps along the tank wall as I circle around waiting for my meal" tells you what you need to know.

That got me wondering, how many times has The Onion taken aim at Tampa Bay over the years? Here are just a few examples. Click the photos to visit the stories on theonion.com.

And just in case you're really not paying attention: THESE ARE NOT REAL NEWS STORIES.

Review: 'The Last Tycoon' is a dazzling adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's unfinished work

Matt Bomer is Monroe Stahr in Amazon's The Last Tycoon.

Amazon

Matt Bomer is Monroe Stahr in Amazon's The Last Tycoon.

There's no business like 1930s show business.

Amazon takes another dive into F. Scott Fitzgerald's list of literary works with The Last Tycoon, adapted from the unfinished roman a clef from 1941.

The series and novel follow Monroe Stahr (Matt Bomer), a "boy wonder" film producer who rises to prominence in Hollywood at the fictional Brady-American Productions studio. He often butts heads with studio head Pat Brady (Kelsey Grammer) over decisions in casting and finances.

Stahr and Brady are modeled after the relationship between real-life producer Irving Thalberg and MGM's Louis B. Mayer.

Review: Z: The Beginning of Everything spotlights the original Jazz Age flapper: Zelda Fitzgerald

The Last Tycoon is set on the cusp of World War II. The Jazz Age is over and the Great Depression is kicking into high gear, touching even the seemingly untouchable Hollywood. The series mostly follows the clashes between show business and grim reality, and between the sparkling stars of yesteryear and the new ones disillusioned by the glamor of the cinema. …

Val Kilmer says he's canceling his Tampa Bay Comic Con appearance

Val Kilmer has canceled his appearance at Tampa Bay Comic Con.

Associated Press

Val Kilmer has canceled his appearance at Tampa Bay Comic Con.

Val Kilmer and the Tampa Bay Comic Con announced today that the Batman, Tombstone and Willow star has canceled his appearance at the convention in Tampa this weekend.

Kilmer was arguably the best-known celebrity guest in the lineup for this year's convention happening Friday through Sunday at the Tampa Convention Center. This morning Kilmer tweeted he was canceling the appearance due to "family stuff."

Unfortunately I've had to cancel visiting all my friends at Tampa Comicon this weekend. I've got family stuff that's got to be my priority.

Tampa Bay Comic Con later confirmed the news on its Facebook page, writing that "we recently received some bad news from Val Kilmer. Certainly very last minute for a cancellation. We're very sorry for everyone that was looking forward to meeting Val. We featured Val Kilmer at our Indiana Comic Con back in April, and his appearance went smoothly, so we were hoping for another smooth appearance this weekend."

Could Floo Powder or a Triwizard maze be in Universal's future?

Universal Orlando announced Monday that it will close Dragon Challenge on Sept. 5 for a new "highly themed" Harry Potter ride to open in 2019.

Universal Orlando

Universal Orlando announced Monday that it will close Dragon Challenge on Sept. 5 for a new "highly themed" Harry Potter ride to open in 2019.

As we reported here, Universal Orlando announced Monday that it will close the coaster Dragon Challenge for a new “highly themed” Harry Potter ride to open in 2019. Accio educated guesses!!

The news sent Potter fans into a tizzy with hopes for a Floo Powder Network or the maze from the Triwizard Tournament. And they have pretty good reasons for their guesses.

If you pair this announcement with the news reported last March in the Orlando Business Journal that the park obtained  patents for a “vehicle transportation room system and method” and a “system and method for a moving puzzle theatre,” you might be thinking that a Floo Network or Triwizard Tournament attraction are headed to the park.

The Floo Powder Network in the Harry Potter series is used to magically transport wizards from one fireplace to another, and the Triwizard Tournament’s final task involved a maze populated by various obstacles and dangers.

The only clue from Universal: “This all-new thrill ride will take you deeper into J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World, where you will encounter some of your favorite characters and creatures. It’ll be unlike anything we’ve ever done before and it will be fun for the entire family.” …
