REVIEW: New Mystery Science Theater 3000 does right by original cult comedy

By now, you've probably watched at least half of the episodes in the new Mystery Science Theater 3000 on Netflix, right? Or is that just me?

On Friday, a revival season of MST3K premiered on Netflix with an all-new cast, plenty of new B-movies to riff and the return of snarky robots Crow and Tom Servo.

Thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, the campy cult comedy made its triumphant return after almost 20 years off the air. It was truly a fan effort, with backers like the people behind the Mystery Science Theater Revival League Podcast.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 Revival League Podcast

The podcast touts itself as a series made by fans for fans, and is a celebration of everything there is to love about MST3K. The series started last year and is now up to 56 episodes of cast interviews and discussing a love for riffing on terrible movies.

The popular podcast isn't affiliated with the revival or Netflix, but landed some fascinating interviews with MST3K creator Joel Hodgson, host of the revival Jonah Ray and actors/puppeteers for Tom Servo and Crow.

Now that we have 14 brand new episodes of MST3K, the Revival League Podcast is a great way to refresh yourself on what made the original so successful. And if you're new to MST3K, the series is a great introduction to the cult following.
