Basketball: Former Boca Ciega standout Latavia Dempsey signs with Valur club in Iceland

Former Boca Ciega and Florida Atlantic basketball player Latavia Dempsey has signed a professional contract with Valur Club in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Dempsey was a second-team all state selection in 2009 as a senior at Boca Ciega. She helped lead the Pirates to three state Final Four appearances and a state final game. She ended her high school career with 1,710 points scored and 225 3-point field goals.

At Florida Atlantic, Dempsey was a four year player and averaged 7.2 points per game. She made 130 career three-pointers.

KR Reykjavik plays in the Iceland-Dominos League and is currently 5-23 and in seventh place in the eight team league.
