Tampa Bay Buccaneer receiver Louis Murphy, a former standout at Lakewood, is holding a free camp for football players and cheerleaders on Saturday.

The camp, held at Lakewood, is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is open to kids ages 8-18. Online registration is closed. Those interested can register at the school, though there are only a few spots left.

This is the eighth year Murphy has held the camp for football players and the second year for cheerleaders. It is part of his First Downs for Life, a non-profit serving kids in the Tampa Bay community. Dain Brown of the Versatile Marketing Group helped promote the event.

“The camp keeps getting bigger and bigger every year,” Murphy said. “This is something I’ve always wanted to do. It makes it even more special that I’m back here on a full-time basis and playing for my hometown team.”
