Indian Rocks Christian pitcher Oakley Albinson’s stellar sophomore season has led to some prestigious invitations this summer.

Albinson has been invited to the Prep Baseball Report Futures Games in Indianapolis on July 30-Aug. 1. He will also participate in the Perfect Game Underclass All-American Games in San Diego on Aug. 12-13.

“I’m very, very excited about it," Albinson said.

Albinson emerged as the Golden Eagles' ace this past season. He was 10-2 with a 1.47 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 71.1 innings pitched. As a freshman, Albinson only pitched 22 innings and was 0-2 with a 1.59 ERA.

Two other area players also earned accolades this summer. Bishop McLaughlin pitcher Nate Pearson and Indian Rocks Christian catcher Dan Oberst were named MaxPreps Small School All-Americans. Pearson, who was the Times' North Suncoast Pitcher of the Year, was 9-1 with a 1.17 ERA.

Oberst was the Times' Pinellas County Player of the Year after hitting .424 with 30 RBIs and three home runs.
