Tavares Chase leaves IMG, returns to Plant City

Former Plant City wide receiver and four-star recruit Tavares Chase has transferred back to the Raiders, leaving IMG Academy after just one season, Plant City coach Greg Meyer confirmed.

Chase, a Clemson commit, has more than 20 Division-I offers, and the 6-foot-2, 180-pound rising senior had 25 receptions for 521 yards and five touchdowns last season for the Ascenders.

In the two seasons before that, Chase combined for 1,028 yards receiving and five touchdowns for the Raiders, despite being sidelined during his sophomore year due to injury.

Meyer said Chase made the switch to Plant City because of family reasons. The first-year head coach of the Raiders is pleased to have his highly-touted athlete back.

"I think it's pretty well-documented what he's been able to do at Plant City in his first two years," Meyer said. "We're hoping to pick up where that left off."
