Pasco VFW post distributes Buddy Poppies

Buddy Poppies for vets: The Tawney-Rowe Memorial VFW Post 4412 will distribute Buddy Poppies during the month of May at various locations. Buddy Poppies are made by veterans in VA hospitals. Donations are used to help veterans in need. The poppies may be purchased:

• 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 4 at Winn-Dixie, 14134 U.S. 19, Hudson.

• 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 4, 11, 24, and 25 at Winn-Dixie, 12120 Moon Lake Road, New Port Richey.

• 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 24 at Publix, 13752 Fairway Oaks, Hudson.

Writing classes: CARES Elfers Center will offer two classes taught by award-winning author Angela Pisaturo. The Creative Writing Class will include instruction, oral and tandem writing exercises, and hands-on learning experiences from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays beginning in May; cost is $6. The Novel Writing Workshop teaches participants writing, marketing and publishing tips. The workshop is for six weeks on Mondays beginning in May. Each session of the Novel Writing Workshop costs $15. Both classes take place at the new CARES Elfers Center, 4136 Barker Drive. Pre-registration is required for both classes by calling (727) 847-1290.
