AAA providing free rides, tows to cut down on drunk driving

AAA, The Auto Club Group, is kicking off its annual "Tow to Go" safe rides program Friday. Motorists who find themselves impaired and unable to drive can call AAA for a free ride and tow to any location within 10 miles. The service, provided in partnership with Budweiser, covers members and non-members.

"While it's great to have that safety net in place, AAA and Budweiser would rather see motorists planning ahead so they don't need it," AAA said in a release. "This means choosing a designated driver, staying where they are celebrating or arranging for another form of safe transportation whenever anyone celebrates away from home with alcohol."

Tow to Go, which is on track to have serviced 25,000 drivers over its nearly 20-year existence, runs from Dec. 22 through 6 a.m. Jan. 2, 2018. To use the service, call (855) 286-9246. For more information, visit
