Publix stores through the Tampa Bay area will close as early as noon on Saturday as Hurricane Irma continues to track toward the region.
In a news release Saturday, officials cited "Irma's forecasted track change, the impending weather conditions worsening, and considering the safety of our customers and associates."
Stores in Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando and Manatee counties will close at noon, while stores in Hillsborough, Polk, Highlands and Lake counties will close at 3 p.m.
Weather permitting, the stores will reopen on Tuesday, according to the release.
Meanwhile, Publix stories in Collier, Lee, Charlotte, Sarasota and Desoto county stores closed Friday night at 8 p.m.
There are some exceptions on bridge closings or local evacuations, according to the release.
