Visitors to the Krewe of Sea SaveYours immediately can tell this is a different kind of masquerading pirates.

The costumes they sport vary in style, but they all reflect the spirit of an action-seeking adventurer or air warrior powered by steam. Imagine Jules Verne, Captain Nemo meets RocketMan and Indiana Jones all rolled into one

See, that's different.

The krewe strives to have fun while promoting safety and respect for the waterways. At 5 p.m. Saturday, it hosts a Brandon Pirate Krewe Invasion at the Rack-Brandon, 1025 W Brandon Blvd. Admission is $5 for individuals and other krewes can join the fun for a $150 fee that will come with a number of amenities including 25 wristbands for admission.

The event will feature food and beverage tastings, entertainment, music and raffles. For more information, go to kreweofseasaveyours.com or call (813) 410-0999.

By the way, the official Gasparilla Festival begins with the children's extravaganza on Jan. 19, followed by the Gasparilla Pirate Fest on Jan. 26.
