Severe traffic jam follows fatal motorcycle wreck on Howard Frankland

TAMPA — Two southbound lanes of the Howard Frankland Bridge were closed for nearly three hours Saturday after a fatal motorcycle crash on the Tampa side of the span, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash victim's name has not been released.

Troopers arrived on scene about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, FHP spokesman Sgt. Steve Gaskins said.

The lanes remained closed for an investigation until about 7:15 p.m.

Traffic on southbound I-275 in the area was extremely congested, with some motorists experiencing delays of more than two hours.
