Man run over by pickup in October dies at hospital

LARGO — A man who was run over by a Ford F250 pickup outside a Largo tire business in October died Friday after being hospitalized more than a month, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

James W. Rosen, 75, of Clearwater, was run over the morning of Oct. 31 in the parking lot of the Tires Plus store at 1800 Seminole Blvd., authorities said. Rosen was standing about 40 feet away from an automotive service bay out of which the truck was backing up.

The truck's driver, John Roger Driscoll, 25, also of Clearwater, did not see Rosen as he backed up, authorities said. He knocked the man down and ran over him.

Still unaware of the collision, Driscoll then rolled the truck forward and ran over Rosen again, authorities said.

Rosen died at Bayfront Medical Center, where he was taken after being struck. The incident remains under investigation.
