LUTZ — A three-truck wreck caused by a driver carrying four other family members killed a New Port Richey man dead and injured seven others, two seriously, authorities said.
The accident happened about 4:30 p.m. Friday on U.S. 41 near Knaus Lane, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Ryan Dale Moore, 32, of Land O'Lakes, was driving south in his 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck with Shantel D. Moore, 32. Also in the truck were 7-year-old Jayden Moore, Aryanna Moore, 5, and 4-year-old Makayla Moore, all of Land O'Lakes.
Moore's truck jumped the concrete median and drove into northbound U.S. 41, hitting a 2001 Nissan pickup truck driven by Lance Rockwell Agin, 52, of New Port Richey according to the Highway Patrol. The Nissan was hit by a GMC pickup behind it.
Agin died at the scene, the Highway Patrol said. Ryan and Shantel Moore were seriously injured, while the three children sustained minor injuries. The two people in the GMC — Terrance James Irwin, 62 and Diane Irwin, 60, both of Hudson — also sustained minor injuries, according to the Highway Patrol.
The three Moore children were all wearing seat belts but Ryan and Shantel Moore were not, the Patrol said. They were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital.
