St. Petersburg man dies in three-car wreck

PINELLAS PARK — A St. Petersburg man died Sunday following a three-car wreck in Pinellas Park, authorities said.

Around 1:40 p.m., Charles Berry, 81, was driving east on 62nd Avenue with his wife, Carol Berry, 77, when a southbound 1973 Rolls Royce driven by 58-year-old Tony Garon of St. Petersburg ran a red light at 49th Street and collided with their 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis, according to Pinellas Park police.

A westbound 2007 Toyota Corolla, driven by 67-year-old Carol Cherry of St. Petersburg, simultaneously collided with Garon's Rolls Royce.

Charles Berry was transported to Northside Hospital, where he later died, police said.

Carol Berry and Carol Cherry were also taken o Northside and treated for minor injuries. Garon was treated at the scene.

Officers said alcohol may have been a factor in the wreck, which is under investigation.
