Deputies identify dead man found at Fort De Soto Park

TIERRA VERDE — Authorities have identified a man who was found dead Thursday morning at East Beach in Fort De Soto Park, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

Dyrle Burkett, 57, of St. Petersburg was found floating in the water near the shore, deputies said. He had made statements about harming himself.

Deputies received a call about the body about 11:17 a.m. and secured the area shortly after. The investigation is continuing.
