Homeless man charged in North Tampa killing

Edwin Brown

Edwin Brown, 41

A homeless man is facing a murder charge for stabbing another homeless man to death early Tuesday in North Tampa, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's office said.

Sheriff's investigators gave this account of the incident: A witness called 911 about 2:40 a.m. Tuesday to report that he had been drinking beer in the woods in the 2200 block of E Fletcher Avenue with two other homeless men. A fourth homeless man, Edwin J. Brown, became mad at the trio for making noise while he was trying to sleep. The witness said Brown argued with and attacked one of the men in the group, Daniel L. Hudson. Hudson fell to the ground and Brown ran away.

Hudson, 35, later died at a local hospital. An autopsy found he died from a stab wound, the Sheriff's Office said. Brown, 41, was spotted and arrested Tuesday afternoon near N 22nd Street and 131st Ave in Tampa. He is charged with second-degree murder.
