Dense fog advisory in effect until morning

The National Weather Service advises drivers to use low-beam headlights to help navigate a dense fog that is expected to remain throughout the Tampa Bay area until Thursday morning.

A dense fog advisory was in effect for the region until 7 a.m. Visibility will be low — a quarter mile or less, meteorologists predicted.

Bay News 9 forecasters said that sea fog formed over the Gulf of Mexico and will most affect area beaches, coastal areas and highways, including the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. The weather service said it expects the fog to thicken in inland areas by morning.

Drivers should also reduce their speed during their Thursday morning commutes.
