The yard of Terry Price was flooded on Tuesday afternoon. Rising waters of the Withlacoochee River, which the house backs up to, have caused severe flooding in the east Hernando County neighborhood of Talisman Estates, near Ridge Manor.

While the waters of the Withlacoochee River in Hernando and Pasco counties are still expected to rise in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, those of the Anclote River in Pasco were finally receding Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

As of Wednesday morning, the Anclote at Elfers was at 24 feet, right on the mark for what is considered major flood stage. Trends show the river steadily retreating through Monday, when it is expected to return to about 15 feet, well below minor flood stage. Levels should fall below the 20-foot flood stage by late Friday morning.

The Withlacoochee, however, is expected to reach 17 feet by Monday, which is a half-foot higher than what is considered major flood stage. On Wednesday morning, the level at Trilby was just below 15 feet and stable. But trends show waters should begin to rise more quickly starting Friday night. Flood stage is 12 feet.
