TAMPA — DeSean Jackson got to keep his No. 11 jersey with the Bucs, and with Adam Humphries' help, is giving some goodwill in his new community.

Jackson signed a three-year, $33.5 million contract with the Bucs, but Humphries already was wearing the No. 11 that Jackson wore with Washington. Jackson reached out to Humphries.

"It was kind of fun. I've never been in a situation like this before," Humphries said. "DeSean gave me a call, asked me how much I liked No. 11, if I wanted to keep it, how it would be cool if he got it from me. We had some fun going back and forth, me asking him how much it meant to him."

Jackson had worn 10 with the Eagles, and only switched to 11 with Washington because Robert Griffin III had 10.

"I wanted to text him a picture of him wearing No. 10 in a Philadelphia jersey and say 'Man, you look good in that number. You should keep that.' But I knew he wanted 11," Humphries said.

Humphries wore No. 13 at Clemson and in high school, the number his father and brother wore. Mike Evans had No. 13 with the Bucs, so he took 11.

"Eleven was good to me," he said. "But DeSean, obviously, he has the seniority part on me, and it means a lot to him. If you feel good, you play good. So we can work it out and help people out at the same time."

They worked out a compromise: Jackson pledged to make a donation to a children's charity in Tampa. Humphries said he'll do something as well in his hometown of Spartanburg, S.C.

"We had a good idea it'd be good to help out a charity, to help the kids out locally," Humphries said. "For him to be a new member of the Tampa Bay area, it's good for him to get involved like that. The money wasn't really that big a deal, so we wanted to help out. It's just something good to come out of a little fun between two teammates."
