Richey Suncoast Theatre opens season with 'Jekyll & Hyde'

Richey Suncoast Theatre opens its 2017-18 season Sept. 7 with a case of the horrors set to music. Jekyll & Hyde, which made its Broadway debut in 1997, is loosely based on Robert Louis Stevenson's 1886 classic thriller, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Jekyll is a cultured, mild-mannered, respected professor who turns himself into a case for good versus evil when an experiment to cure his father's mental illness goes horribly wrong. Jekyll takes a mysterious potion that unleashes his murderous alter-ego, Mr. Hyde, who wreaks havoc on London.

The production features Jason Enser doing double duty on stage as Jekyll and Hyde, Mallory Quinn as Lucy Harris and Brooke Stinnett as Emma Carew. The directors are Emily Nettnin Earle and Jess Glass. The choreographer is Melissa Smith.

Weekend matinee and evening performances of Jekyll & Hyde will be Sept. 7 to 24 at the theater, 6237 Grand Blvd., New Port Richey, Tickets are $18 cash; $20.07 credit card, reserved seating.

For tickets, call (727) 842-6777; the box office is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday starting Aug. 30, and an hour before each show.
